The eagerly anticipated draw in aid of the St. Lawrence’s Church Renovation Fund took place in Fintona Golf Club on Saturday night (31st October). The first prize, which was very generously donated by Paddy and Geraldine Colton and their family, was a quality breeding heifer or a £2,000 cash alternative.
Geraldine Colton drew out the winning ticket, and the lucky winner was 14-year-old James Logue from Dromore who someone described as being ‘farming mad!’ Obviously, James opted for the heifer and the photo shows James receiving his prize heifer from the Colton family at their farm outside Fintona.
The second prize of £500 went to the Cassidy children from Dunamona Road and the photo shows the children’s mother, Niamh Cassidy, receiving the £500 from Paddy and Geraldine Colton. Also included in the photo is Seamus Cullinan, a member of the Committee. Other winners on the night of £100 each were Canon John McKenna, Trillick, Enda Gallen, Fintona, Eddie Reid, The Barr, Pauline Gill, Eskra and Peadar Keown, Killeshill.
Over £70,000 has been raised from ticket sales for the draw and a very sincere thank you must go to the Colton family and especially Geraldine Colton who sold an unbelievable number of tickets herself. It seems that if there was any opportunity to sell tickets no matter where she was, Geraldine was sure to be there with a book or books of tickets!
